What we're building
House clearance in London has traditionally meant ringing round a few companies, waiting for someone to come and look, and hoping the quote that eventually turns up is fair. houseclearance.co exists to change that sequence: you post the job with your details so licensed carriers covering your postcode can quote on it directly. You compare real prices from people actually available on your date, and you choose - or don't, if nothing suits you.
houseclearance.co is a platform in active development, built by a small team focused on getting the carrier network mechanics right - accurate pricing logic, a clean quoting flow, and proper carrier vetting - before opening it up more widely across London. Right now some flows use sample data while real carrier onboarding is in progress, and that's flagged clearly wherever it applies. We'd rather be upfront about what's live and what isn't than present something unfinished as complete.
Our mission
Two things sit behind every part of this site. First, responsible disposal: clearance work should end with items reused, recycled, or disposed of properly, not dumped - see how we think about that on our responsible disposal page. Second, a fair and transparent carrier network: customers should be able to see and compare real prices before committing to anything, and carriers should be able to find local jobs without paying for leads that go nowhere. Everything else - the quoting model, the licence checks, the job request form - is in service of those two goals.
How we think about carrier compliance
houseclearance.co is the carrier network platform being built to connect customers and carriers - it is not itself a waste carrier and does not hold a waste carrier licence, because it doesn't move or dispose of waste. The carriers who quote on jobs through the site are separate, independent businesses, and every one of them is required to hold a valid upper-tier waste carrier licence before they can quote. How we're different
A few principles we hold ourselves to, whether or not anyone's checking.
Transparent pricing
You don't need to hand over any contact details until you're ready to post, and every quote you receive after posting is a real, itemised price from that carrier - not a placeholder figure to get you on the phone.
Licensed carriers only
Any carrier quoting on a job must hold a valid upper-tier waste carrier licence. That's a legal requirement in England for anyone moving waste for payment, and it's non-negotiable for us.
Responsible disposal
Cleared items should go to reuse, recycling, or a licensed waste transfer facility - not fly-tipped. We build that expectation into how carriers are expected to operate on the platform.
No obligation to accept a quote
Posting a job and receiving quotes costs nothing. If no quote suits your price or date, you're free to walk away, adjust the job, or simply not choose one.
